The Estonian Employers' Confederation's business meeting on 24 April focused on one of the most important issues facing both business and government today: how to increase social confidence in an era where geopolitical tensions, information warfare and international economic instability are affecting people's moods and business decisions.
Although the state is investing heavily in increasing defence capabilities, the confidence of Estonian people and businesses is significantly lower than in the neighbouring region. That is why we are organising a business meeting on 24 April for members of the Confederation of Estonian Employers on the topic “How to increase confidence?” to discuss why this is the case and how to change it.
The Estonian Employers’ Confederation is a credible social partner to the state, whose voice and influence have been growing stronger. By uniting its members and speaking on their behalf, the message it conveys becomes more persuasive and impactful. We believe that every decision and action should create greater value for everyone – for people, partners, clients, and the local community. As a member of the Employers’ Confederation, we can more easily contribute to discussions about the future of Estonian industry and be partners in shaping a more successful and value-creating business environment. In this way, we contribute to the sustainability of industrial sectors, employment, the well-being of employees and the community, and the overall development of the Estonian state.

The Estonian Hotel and Restaurant Association is one of the founding members of the Employers’ Confederation. Our sector is highly labor-intensive, and it is important that the interests of both employees and employers are represented in a balanced way before lawmakers. The confederation has fulfilled this role with dignity. We value the union’s professional team, long-standing experience, and the continuous involvement of industry associations through working groups. We know that through the Employers’ Confederation, we are in a strong information network and can contribute to important matters in which politicians might otherwise act too independently without involving entrepreneurs.

Although recruiting from abroad is more complicated, time-consuming and expensive than recruiting from Estonia, employers have to do it for different reasons. Risto Mäeots, Head of Magnetic MRO, Erkki Keldo, Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Industry, and Ain Käpp, Head of the Labour Market Working Group of the Confederation of Estonian Employers, take part in the programme.
With the new government, things are moving in the right direction, says Jaen Uussalu, entrepreneur and member of the board of the Estonian Furniture Industry Association. “Things can only get better from here, and bold and necessary decisions have been made.”
