Environment and responsible business
Focus topics
- Supporting the transition to more sustainable business models and the circular economy.
- Climate policy must focus on competitiveness. Without competitive businesses, climate goals cannot be achieved without harming human well-being. Therefore, it is crucial that relevant policies and initiatives take into account the regulations in the countries and regions with which Estonian companies compete internationally.
- Achieving climate targets requires a reasonable transition period. Only in this way can we give Estonian companies the opportunity to reshape their business strategies, taking into account both the changed environment and international competition. In order to make change happen, countries need to make both a substantive and a financial commitment to ensure a reliable, predictable and business-friendly business environment that supports long-term private sector investment.
- For the successful implementation of the European Green Deal, policies in this area need to be aligned with the renewed National Climate Action Plan (NCCP) REKK2030 (2050 horizon). In a changed environment, the focus needs to be on education and innovation to ensure that the labour market has the right people with the right knowledge, skills and experience.
- Providing employers with the most up-to-date information on best practices, funding opportunities, etc.
Sustainable business models and technologies, the most extensive and efficient possible refining of natural resources, renewable energies and recovery technologies must become a competitive advantage for Estonian companies.
