Business meeting: how to build confidence?

Although the state is investing heavily in increasing defence capabilities, the confidence of Estonian people and businesses is significantly lower than in the neighbouring region. This is holding back the economy and investors. That is why we are inviting members of the Confederation of Estonian Employers to a business roundtable on 24 April on “How to boost confidence?” to examine what steps the state is taking to increase defence capabilities, both through investment and by strengthening alliance relations, and how the state and businesses can jointly contribute to increasing societal security and confidence in uncertain times.
Speakers at the business meeting will include Major General Andrus Merilo, Commander of the Estonian Defence Forces, communications expert Raul Rebane, Andre Lilleleht , CEO of the Estonian Security Business Association, and Helmuth Martin Reisner, Head of the Defence Capability Development Department of the Ministry of Defence. The seminar will be moderated by Hando Sutter.
Major General Andrus Merilo will present Estonia’s defence investment trends and the principles of the Baltic Defence Zone, as well as how employers can contribute to national defence.
Raul Rebane explains how accurate communication can help to increase a sense of security. He will also share practical suggestions on what the state could and should do differently in defence communication to increase the confidence of people and businesses and strengthen trust both in Estonia and internationally.
Andre Lilleleht, CEO of the Estonian Security Companies Association, will talk about how a manager thinks about national defence on both a personal and a corporate level, or how to contribute to national defence and support reservists both as a private individual and as an organisation.
The business meeting will be concluded by a discussion on “Cooperation between companies and the state in strengthening the sense of security in society”, where Helmuth Martin Reisner, Head of the Department for the Development of the Will to Defend of the Ministry of Defence, Raul Rebane and Andre Lilleleht will discuss.
The event is open to members of the Confederation of Estonian Employers and we will send an invitation to members by e-mail. If you have any questions, please contact our Communications Specialist Evelyn Parve at evelyn@employers.ee.
The business meeting will take place in the framework of the Estonian Employers’ Confederation project “Employer’s contribution to strengthening national defence and supporting reservists”, supported by the Ministry of Defence.
